Our auto dude, Matt Degen, has explained the high finance involved in the tax deductions you can receive for the sales and excise taxes on any new car purchased by the end of 2009.

This can easily amount to thousands of dollars, so pay attention!

The tax breaks are good only up to a car purchase of $49,500, so that leaves me out.

I was going to buy a new Ferrari for Christmas until I realized Uncle Sam wouldn’t give me a tax break on the entire purchase. Sorry, Ferrari dealers.

Oh, yeah, but even if I buy a car more expensive, I can still get up to $49,500 worth of tax deductions.

So that makes it okay.
