Home Depot is offering you $3 per string if you bring in your old incandescent Christmas lights to trade in for new energy-saving LED lights, even if they’re broken. Let’s face it, when was the last time you got $3 for something broken?

This deal is good Nov. 5 through Nov. 15, and you can get the trade-in on up to five strings of lights.
If you do this, you save two ways: You not only get a $3 discount on your new lights, but you also save on electricity, because the new LED lights use 80% less electricity for the same amount of juice.

Hey, even Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor could appreciate that, right? Maybe he wouldn’t blow out his fuses every year.
Now, if they could only find a system to keep my lights from getting all tangled up!

Other reasons to like incandescent lights:
They dont look cheap and put off a weird glow
They give off a nice warm glow
They remind me of christmas when i was growing up.
And i don’t give a flying rats ass if costs a little more on energy.
They don’t look like ass like the led’s do and i am tired of people telling me how i should think.
I just bought a case of C-7 bulbs and it made me happy…
Yay, Zombie. I’m all in favor of trying to save energy, within reasonable limits, but those LED lights are just plain UGLY. Hate ‘em. Hate that bizarre, overdone, bluish, glow they put out.
I say go incandescent or go home.
Well considering how much my electric bill soared this year, ouch, I think I will say Go LED or go out!
LOL @ Zombie
To each his own. Personally I think LED’s are awsome for many uses but not so great for other uses.
They are really good for Christmas trees and other holiday lighting because of the safety and the energy efficiency.
But for a flashlight? No thanks. They just don’t cut it.
