Southwest cuts fares as low as $180 roundtrip to East Coast

Southwest Airlines has launched a 48-hour fare sale that will see fares drop as low as $180, before taxes, for flights from Orange County, Ontario and Los Angeles to East Coast destinations. American Airlines said it would match the fares on routes where it competes with Soutwest. Other airlines could follow. The Southwest sale also drops fares to the Bay Area to $60 roundtrip and to the Midwest to $60 roundtrip. For a full list of cities, restrictions and options, go to Southwest.com.

    With taxes and fees, it comes out to about $215 roundtrip to the east coast. Still a great deal.
